Uploaded Images — Special Treatment

Images uploaded to the Service receive separate and stronger privacy protections than other data because they may contain personal context — student names, school identifiers, class schedules, handwriting, and other information you didn’t intend to share beyond the problem itself.

What we do with uploaded images

  • Pass the image through the recognition and solving pipeline in server memory
  • Return the solution result to your browser
  • Delete the image from memory immediately after the solution is generated

What we do not do with uploaded images

  • Write images to persistent disk storage
  • Use images to train or fine-tune AI models
  • Share images with third parties under any circumstances
  • Analyze images for any purpose other than generating the requested solution
  • Attempt to identify individuals depicted in or implied by images

Once your solution is returned, no copy of your uploaded image exists on our servers. This is by design, not just policy.

How We Use Data

The data we collect is used for the following purposes:

Service operation

Processing uploaded images to generate solutions, maintaining the technical infrastructure of the Service, and diagnosing errors and performance issues.

Analytics and improvement

Understanding how users interact with the Service — which subjects are most commonly used, where users drop off, which features are most valuable — to improve the product. All analytics data is aggregated and anonymized before analysis.

Security and abuse prevention

Detecting and preventing automated abuse, scraping, and other activity that violates our Terms of Service. IP addresses may be temporarily blocked if they exhibit patterns consistent with automated misuse.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating and improving the Service.

05 —

Cookies and Tracking

SolveFromImage uses a minimal set of cookies necessary to operate the Service:

Essential cookies

Session identifiers that allow the Service to function correctly across page loads. These are not used for tracking and expire at the end of your browser session.

Analytics cookies

We use privacy-focused analytics (with IP anonymization enabled) to understand aggregate usage patterns. These cookies do not track individuals across sites and do not build advertising profiles.

No third-party advertising cookies

We do not embed advertising networks, social media tracking pixels, or any third-party cookies whose purpose is to track you across the web for commercial profiling.

Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect the functionality of the Service.

Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of third-party services to operate the infrastructure of SolveFromImage:

  • Hosting and CDN: Cloud infrastructure providers that host the application and serve static assets. These providers process request data (including IP addresses) as part of delivering the Service.
  • Analytics: A privacy-focused analytics provider that collects anonymized usage data. IP addresses are anonymized before storage. No cross-site tracking.

We do not use:

  • Advertising networks or demand-side platforms
  • Data brokers or audience enrichment services
  • Social media tracking integrations
  • A/B testing platforms that build individual profiles
ℹ️

Third-party providers operate under their own privacy policies. We select providers that offer strong data protection commitments, but we recommend reviewing the privacy policies of services you use directly.

07 —

Data Retention

We retain different types of data for different periods based on operational necessity:

  • Uploaded images: Deleted immediately after solution generation. Zero retention.
  • Server logs (including IP addresses): Retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention, then automatically deleted.
  • Aggregated analytics data: Retained indefinitely in anonymized, aggregated form (no individual data points).

We do not retain personal data beyond the periods described above.

08 —

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: Request information about what personal data we hold about you
  • Right to erasure: Request deletion of personal data we hold about you
  • Right to object: Object to processing of your personal data for analytics purposes
  • Right to data portability: Request a copy of your personal data in a portable format

Because we require no registration and collect minimal data, many of these rights have limited practical application to our Service. We do not hold names, email addresses, or persistent user profiles.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children’s Privacy

SolveFromImage is designed to be used by students of all ages, including children under 13. We have designed our data collection practices with this in mind:

  • We do not require registration, so we never collect names, ages, or contact information from anyone, including children
  • We do not display behavioral advertising
  • Uploaded images are not retained or shared

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to SolveFromImage, please contact us at [email protected]. We will investigate and promptly delete any such information.

If you are under 13, we encourage you to use the Service with a parent or guardian’s knowledge and approval.

10 —

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the data we hold against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
  • In-memory processing of uploaded images (no disk writes)
  • Access controls limiting who can access server infrastructure
  • Regular security review of dependencies and infrastructure

No method of data transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we implement industry-standard security practices, we cannot guarantee absolute security against all possible threats.

If you discover a security vulnerability in the Service, please contact us at [email protected]. We take security reports seriously and will respond promptly.

11 —

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of the page. Significant changes that affect how we handle your data will be noted prominently.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
